I was born in North Carolina, but traveled extensively before moving to Missoula. In fact, my first photo job was working for my father as a hired paparazzo at film premieres in Warsaw, Poland. My dad has been a big influence on my love of photography; growing up, my sisters and I were continually tortured by having to sit still while he tried out one of his new cameras. When I was 14 I got my first SLR, and the tables were turned. A few years ago I moved to Missoula to attend the photojournalism program at the University of Montana, and after a brief stint in New York City after graduation, I moved back to the mountains and rivers of Montana. I love capturing beauty in the everyday and the ugly--ashtrays on a bar or a prison hallway. But really I just like going out and creating images with a unique perspective. |
